Our Celebrity Pets need your help!

WHY NOW?

For 25 years the majority of the costs associated with rehoming our Celebrities have landed with the few. So last year as many of you know we formed a Charity, so that we could fundraise to do more and share the burden..

So we have been waiting for our website to become functional in order to make the most from our fundraising opportunities, and are still trying to obtain a grant for the funds to do so. But now we can no longer wait and we really need your help to continue to provide more and more for our pooches.

Our major sponsor for provision of facilities to house these abandonned animals is Julie's Boarding Kennels and Cattery. Julies Kennels have already pledged to continue to sponsor boarding for these animals for the next 3 months, as we fundraise to cover the vet bills alone. That in itself equates to 10’s of thousands of dollars and we thank them very much indeed.

URGENT MATTERS

So with our accommodation worries taken care of we turn to other matters of urgency. THIS WEEK ALONE – we have had 10 dogs surrendered into Celebrity Pets Rescue Charitable Trust from the City’s of Swan and Belmont. This is OVER and ABOVE the usual numbers of cats and dogs from unclaimed impoundments that we normally care for.

This has placed enormous strain on our resources, and with vet bills already skyrocketing from cases that have required more attention than usual, adoption fees go literally nowhere. We must manage to cover the costs of micro chipping and vaccinations, and try to arrange sterilizing for all animals either by voucher or surgery prior to adoption, but it is always a struggle.new pound dogs are admitted every day.

Inevitably most dogs we receive require some degree of behaviour modification and they are each assessed by our rehabilitation specialist. This only serves to contribute to our successful placement of animals and we are seeing fewer and fewer returns as a result. But this degree of expertise does not come without a price, and this is difficult to sustain.

So without a functional website we have decided to try to utilize this avenue of crowd funding. Dont forget - each and every donation will be receipted with a taxation receipt and all donations over $2.00 are tax deductible.

BACK TO THE ANIMALS

I have included a collage of pooches (and yes we have cats too, more on our feline friends later)  TEN of these dogs have been surrendered to the pound in the last 7 days.The 4 others surrendered many many weeks ago and are in various stages of recovery and/or rehabilitation training. 

They are, or will soon be up for adoption through our Celebrity Pets rehoming program. They are all being assessed and receiving veterinary treatment for minor ailments that have gone untreated, such as ear infections (choc lab), skin irritations, poor dental and always the inevitable temperament issues- mostly from being misunderstood. Daily rehabilitation exercises go hand in hand with veterinary treatment and general care to rebalance even the most shattered of pooches.

These 14 dogs have all been surrendered , 10 of them this week alone, 4 others many many weeks ago. All are in various stages of rehabilitation training and/or in recovery as in Storm and Indi’s case (pics 3 and 4) had puppies . Indi was surrendered 2 DAYS prior to goving birth. Her pups are being handraised as we write this. All of these dogs have been surrendered to the pound. They are, or sill be soon in our Celebrity Pets rehoming program. They ARE all being assessed and receiving veterinary treatment for minor ailments that have gone untreated. Commonly ears, skin, teeth and temperament issues.

They ALL need vaccination, 11 need microchipping, 9 need sterilizing, thats just a start.

Oh and Storm and Indi have been with us for 16 and 5 weeks respectively. Storm was suspected as pregnant on arrival, Indi gave birth 2 days after arrival, and HER pups are being handraised by our operations manager. But thats another story :)

SO... HOW YOU CAN HELP

BECOME A REGULAR GIVER:

We have a slowly developing a number of regular giving donors who contribute to us monthly. People can usually afford between $2.00 and $20.00 each month as a reglar pledge. And it is amazing what a cumulative difference this can make!! Please consider this option, no matter how small your regular pledge YOU WILL HELP! And don’t forget your gifts are tax deduction (over $2.00).

SPONSOR AN ANIMAL:

Provide directly toward the costs of an animal that is in the program. We will update our FUNDRAZR page with animals in general that are in the program and our special case animals that need ongoing assistance and the targets needed to meet the costs of their care.

MAKE A “ONCE OF” DONATION:

Celebrity Pets Rescue incurs around $5-$7,000 PER MONTH in veterinary bills alone. Rehabilitation and behavioural modification costs are over $2,500.00 per month.  Then there are other overheads like accounting, insurances and other associated business expenses. Kennelling costs are around 10k per month. (already privately sponsored and receievd back as a donation - so in efect we havent ever yet had to pay for kennelling!!)

Administration costs are volunteered at present, but we still have wages and super and workers’ comp.. and so it goes on.Adoption fees raise around $6,000 per month so only sustain a portion of these direct costs.

Yes it is daunting. But we have some wonderful support from vets and carers - and if only a fraction of the people who read this put their hands up to donate we will be very fortunate.

SO…

After reading this, what will YOU do? Will you decide to help? YES? THAT's FANTASTIC!!!

And will you follow through with your positive intensions? Or will you just forget about us land leave the responsibility of our forgotten pound hounds to the minority…
