The Big Lunch Management team are a small group of local residents who volunteer to run/manage this event every year. We rely totally on our own fundraising efforts and the support of local businesses and individuals, we cannot achieve Bicester's Big Lunch without your help.

The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours annually on the first Sunday in June in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. In Bicester we take it one step further, and instead of just your neighbours, we invite the whole town to the biggest street party Bicester has ever seen.

This year’s event will take place in Sheep Street, Pioneer Square and Crown Walk and feature two performance stages where local singers/bands will be entertaining us all throughout the day. Local Dance groups will be performing as always in the Crown Walk arena. The ever so popular Drumming Workshop will be here plus the amazing life size Disney Cars - Lightning McQueen and one of his friends. A vast array of food stalls, plus all of our regular Charities and Community groups will be running their own stalls. Lots of fun to be had throughout the day, something for all ages to enjoy, a fun-filled, lunchy Sunday afternoon in the Community.

It requires significant time, energy and resources to make the Big Lunch happen.

We work on Big Lunch all year round, and we have to pay for all the vital things that make the day happen, like staging, sound systems, security, licensing, cleaning-up after the event, the list goes on. Therefore, we need to raise £7,000 to make it all happen.

As well as the lunch itself, Big Lunch offers local community groups, charities and businesses the opportunity to be a big part of the day, holding stalls to raise awareness for their own cause, to fundraise and also to stage a form of entertainment for the public.

Bicester’s Big Lunch will continue to have a big impact on the local area. As a major event for the town, with wide appeal to a diverse audience of all ages, supporting Bicester’s Big Lunch offers an unmissable opportunity to reach key audiences. In 2014 our Big Lunch attracted 5000 people to enjoy the afternoon.
