After 20 years of airshows displaying the aerial combat history of our greatest generation, our TBM Avenger suffered a collapse of the left main landing gear while taxiing at a Phoenix airshow. Help her fly again to teach adults and children about WWII. More ...

Accident One Year Ago, Now Change in Repair Strategy

(Click above to play video) On March 17, 2014 our TBM Avenger suffered a collapse of the left main landing gear while slowly taxiing on the day after a successful Phoenix airshow. We moved the aircraft to an affiliated Commemorative Air Force (CAF) location in Mesa, AZ in order to make repairs. Airbase AZ has given outstanding support with hangar space and volunteers. But the time has come to move to professional repair facility and paid expert help. They will complete the structural repairs and install the new engine and propeller.

What's Next

These repairs must be completed quickly to avoid missing the upcoming 2015 airshow season. Most shows are scheduled for after June, and then become almost weekly in August and September. Please contribute to let this Wounded Warbird fly in the skies again near you!

CAF Background

Although we are the world's largest flying museum, the CAF receives no federal or state financial support. All funds are acquired by donations, whether private individuals or businesses. As an IRS 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, the CAF began its collection in 1957 and now operates over 160 aircraft - nearly one of each type flown by US servicemen during WWII. These aircraft are assigned to over 60 local units country-wide, where they are maintained by over 8,000 volunteer members. We provide a unique hands-on educational experience for children and adults concerning our flying servicemen and their sacrifices as part of "The Greatest Generation".

Please help us as you can with any amount.

Besides a letter of appreciation, gifts are provided when your donation meets or exceeds the levels as seen at right. All donations are tax deductible and go directly to the aircraft. The Rocky Mountain Wing CAF has no paid staff.

Simply select the "perk" on the right which meets the amount you want to contribute. Read the details, fill in the amount, and answer applicable questions about your selection and shipping address. Then click "Continue" from there. Anything helps.
