Two years after being cast aside for the crime of not laying enough eggs, Scallops' life is in danger again. This time eggs have gotten stuck inside her oviduct, forming a blockage through which other eggs cannot pass.

For the last several days, Scallops has been sitting in her nest, trying vainly to push out this infected mass, periodically chirping in distress from the pain and effort. However, because the egg-mass is adhered to the oviduct itself, it cannot be pushed out no matter how hard her body tries.

Because this kind of situation in hens can be a life-threatening emergency, Scallops had a surgery scheduled last week. Unfortunately, owing to a lack of funds, the surgery had to be canceled. We have tentatively rescheduled it for next week, as we scramble to raise the necessary funds,
