We want to make a short film to engage people in a campaign to fight for social and economic justice for women in Serbia.
Creating a short film about women human rights in Serbia according to social and economical justice and engage existing women organisations to gather around this issue.
Our current campaign is to advocate for housing rights and the empowerment of women in their legal rights to property acquired during marriage or long-term partnership. Most European countries do not have this problem because the law is there to protect women distribute property and savings equally or proportionate to guardianship of any children. In Serbia, this law does not apply, and more than 70% of women do not hold property in their own name but in the spouses. In cases of divorce it can take 8 - 10 years for women, even when they are sole guardians of the children, to receive any share of assets, if the succeed at all. This is a form of economic and psychological violence where perpetrators are supported by the courts and IT MUST STOP!
