JUSTICE DEMANDS ACTION
Nine years ago, Daphne Caruana Galizia was assassinated because she exposed corruption and organised crime.
For nine years Repubblika and #occupyjustice have fought for justice. The conclusion of the trial this year was a devastating setback — one we had a right not to expect. But it is not a reason to give up. It is a lesson that we have not been ambitious enough.
Changing a minister, a police chief, a government or even a parliament will never be enough. We must change ourselves.
We must build a society that values integrity, denounces corruption and refuses to give its money, its silence or its respectability to crime. We must teach our children that success is not enriching ourselves at our neighbour’s expense, but contributing to the community we share.
As the fight for justice enters its second decade, we are ready to take on that bigger mission.
Daphne showed us what indomitable courage and unbounded energy can achieve. Inspired by her example, we will continue to educate, organise, campaign and resist.
But we cannot do it without you.
This October, help us commemorate Daphne. Help us continue her fight. And help us build the society she knew Malta could become.
Beyond justice, it is time to take action.
