Our Vision

Problems such as Pay-to-Win (P2W) gameplay, toxic playerbases and flimsy management have been plaguing many popular Minecraft servers for long enough. That's why I want to found and build a new server, from scratch, that will tackle these problems specifically, and then even more. 

To do that, I need your help. With the help of external funding, there is no incentive to chase after profits; the server will run only on donations and goodwill of its players and supporters. There is a server store planned, however the only items on sale are cosmetics which will not affect the fundamental gameplay of Minecraft. 

I will be the head developer, server founder and head staff at the very beginning. However, the end goal is to build an autonomous server that will require little to no intervention. That will hopefully be achieved through competent volunteers, a stringent vetting process for staff and far-ahead planning. 

Who Am I?

You must be wondering, who am I and what makes me qualified to be sponsored by you. I am a fresh grad out of college from Malaysia, and I have been a Minecraft server developer for half a decade now. You can check out my gig on Fiverr and I think the reviews speak for themselves. Additionally, I was once a senior moderator on a Minecraft server a very long time ago, but I am still familiar with managing a team and the professional standards needed for a smooth, enjoyable experience for the players. 

What Kind of Server Will It Be?

I plan to start small, and scale when possible and needed. Currently, there are the following choices: semi-vanilla SMP or SMP with many added features using plugins. A Discord server will promptly be set up and donors will have the right to vote and decide the direction of our server. All major decisions should and will be discussed with donors beforehand. 

Why Do I Need Your Help?

Your funding will be used to cover the costs of server hosting, premium plugins, server security, domain subscriptions, SSL certificates, and any additional part-time developers that I may need due to time and other constraints. 

Here is a breakdown of the costs:

• Server Hosting - $192

I've decided to go with WitherHosting, a not-so-well-known hosting provider that offers 99.99% uptime, and solid hardware. The following are the specs of the server: 

• • 8GB DDR5 4800GHz RAM
  • Ryzen 9 7500X CPU
  • Unlimited Storage
  • Unlimited Player Slots
  • Dedicated IP

The projected annual cost for hosting is $192.00. That much time should be allowed for the server to gain traction and influence online. 

• Premium Plugins - $30 to $50

To provide the best experience and features for our players, the server will need an anti-cheat plugin. I think Matrix, which comes with a one-time price tag of $25, will do just fine for our server. I understand that many people may have many different opinions regarding anti-cheats, therefore this is a topic that is open for discussion. 

Some features may also require premium plugins. At the time of writing, there is no complete list of plugins that are needed, however it is almost guaranteed to include plugins that come with a premium. 

• Domain Name Subscription - $5 to $20

The server will have its own dedicated IP and domain name (e.g. play.chillcraft.net). The domain name will not be revealed yet to prevent people/trolls/scalpers from purchasing it in advance.

• SSL Certificate and Tebex Subscription - $90 to $130

To ensure our sites are secure, SSL certificates are needed. The cost of SSL certifcates average out to around $60/year and may vary. 

Tebex is the platform used to set up the server store for donations and cosmetic items. To apply a well-made and professional theme, a Tebex Plus subscription, which costs around $16 per month, is needed. A store theme would cost anywhere from $10 to $50 depending on the seller.

Conclusion

Considering the worst case scenario, out of the initial target of $600, approximately $400 will be used for the aforementioned costs. The remaining funds will be kept for future costs or advertisement campaigns/collaborations with content creators.
