Stormy was brought into Maricopa shelter on June 25, 2019. The caller indicated they thought she had been hit by a car and had dragged herself under a fence, as she didn’t have use of her hind legs. X-rays were done and there was no indication of trauma. She has a herniated disc in her thoracic spine, injuring it by possibly jumping off a couch or bed. So it appears she was abandoned on the side of the road due to her injury. Tucson Cold Wet Noses rescued Stormy from the shelter a few days later, as she was scheduled to be euthanized.  She is currently in a foster home. She is three years old and loves everyone. She has a kiss for anyone she meets. She tries so hard to jump up, but her legs just won’t work. She also does not have control of bowel/bladder function, so her bladder needs to be expressed. She has been on six weeks of prednisone in an attempt to help her recover, but she has not improved. Being a rescue dog, spinal surgery is cost prohibitive. However, there is an alternative – laser therapy, physical therapy, and acupuncture. She will also be undergoing pool therapy at her foster’s house.  There has been a great deal of success using these therapies on dogs with spinal injuries. She had her first session on August 2.  She wagged her tail for the first time on August 4!  Please donate to help Stormy get back on her feet! She deserves the chance to walk again, as she has many more years ahead of her.
