The St. Louis Brake Light Clinic is a project of the Democratic Socialists of America's St. Louis chapter, the largest socialist organization in the United States. It aims to prevent costly and dangerous interactions between police and marginalized communities, and advocates for the end of predatory ticketing.

A broken tail light is one of the most common triggers for expensive and dangerous traffic stops. We provide free brake light replacement and food to the public multiple times per year. We also use these events to raise awareness about predatory ticketing: the practice used by cities and counties across the country to raise revenue from their most vulnerable citizens. 

At the very least, cities and counties should provide a more extensive version of the service we offer to all of their citizens, free of charge. Ultimately though, the St. Louis Brake Light Clinic seeks the end of predatory ticketing.
