Im John Wiegand currently one of the owners of Black ICE MA. I never thought Id become an owner of a martial arts school but after watching my daughter (Katelyn) from the age of 6 as her life changed due to the classes we were going to 3 times a week. The changes in her focus, self esteem, drive and leadership changed the way i viewed martial arts. Martial arts became more than meets the eye. More than a sport, fighting or self defence. The Martial arts is first and foremost about life. Besides helping build self-esteem and self-defense skills, karate gave her focus that there is in no way she recieved from her parents, her ability to focus on the task ahead is now one of her greatest strengths.

She became an instructor at 14 and learned leadership and compassion that will certainly carry her the rest of her life. If I would have known the changes it was going to make in her life in the begining there would never have been that 2 week period of deciding to buy a new truck or karate lessons. The choice would have been hands down Karate. For these reasons I wanted to give this gift to every child I saw. which is why I iam an owner. if I can give these gift to other children then I am here. this is why I believe in the Non profit function of our school. to have the ability to walk into an after school program and offer every child there the ability to learn these lessons. we need donations the schools around us are lower income schools and I believe they deserve the chance.
