Philly Drum Project of CultureTrust hasn't added a story.
9:49PM
We did it! Thank you SO MUCH to all 149 people who contributed to this #GivingTuesday campaign to fund our educational programming for the rest of the 2015/16 season! Now with just a few hours left, let's see if we can make it to an even $5,000? We're $170 away - just 17 more people at $10 each. Thanks!
3:45 PM
We're just $60 away from reaching our #GivingTuesday goal and I couldn't be more grateful for the outpouring of support today! All of these gifts will go to making music education accessible to students in our city, offering opportunities to learn from amazing drummers and collaborate with other students in a safe and supportive environment. Once we reach out goal (we're going to, right??), there are a few stretch goals - ways in which we can keep the momentum going and do even more for our community.
A big stretch goal for me is to expand on our mentorship program in #RhythmSessions and create opportunities for our more experienced students to teach younger students in an expanded DrumPhil program this summer
$6,000 would fund that program!
Any amount above and beyond the $3,900 goal will go directly toward expanding our programming toward our mission of making drumming more accessible by helping those in the Philly area share Lessons, Beats, and Gear in an environment where Education, Creativity, Community, and Diversity are valued!
Thank you so much for your support - let's keep it going!

It's 10AM and we've already reached our first goal to fund #RhythmSessions! Let's keep this momentum going to fund our stretch goal to include Teaching Artists for DrumPhil, our 4th annual summer program for high school students. Join a team for just 10 bucks and get involved!

Philly Drum Project is dedicated to making drumming more
accessible in the Philadelphia region by helping those in our area
share gear, lessons, and beats. We're teaming up with our members,
artists, and friends to make music education accessible in
Philadelphia. Whose team are you on? Choose from the Perk list on the
right. Your $10 gift will make a huge impact on our community!
We're participating in #GivingTuesday to add an additional
location to our Re-Drum Rhythm Sessions - free community center group
drum lessons! Last year, you helped us fund the pilot program of
Re-Drum Rhythm Sessions, to refurbish 2 unwanted drumsets and provide
them to the community for free drum lessons. It's an important program
to make sure that everyone in Philly has access to quality musical
instruments. On top of that, the program allows us to reduce our
environmental footprint (do we need to buy NEW drumsets when we have
so many unused kits sitting in basements?).
We need to raise $2000 in just one day! We need 90 people to
join a #team and give just $10 to help support Rhythm Sessions by
running another program in North Philly AND add a second location in
West Philly! That's why your donation of 10 bucks makes a huge
difference in making sure that students in the city have the resources
to learn drums, regardless of their experience or financial
background. Help us make a difference!
*Thanks to our fiscal sponsor, CultureTrust Philadelphia, your
donation is now tax-deductible!
Thank you!
A few notes from last year's DrumPhil Students:
Timothy Parsons: "For me, DrumPhil was an experience beyond great. The students get so much out of one day, and it is such an eye-opening experience. Not only will you learn; you will make a bunch of new friends, meet some great drummers, and come home with a handful of new gear. It was my first time last year so I didn't know anybody, but the returning students came up to me and we just started talking and it was smooth sailing from there. It is the friendliest, non-competitive environment I have ever encountered, which just makes it even better. It doesn't matter how bad, or good, you think you are, everybody learns and everybody plays because its what they enjoy doing. Yeah, I got smoked by some of the guys there, but I learned from what they played and now I'm better because of it. The teachers are some of the best guys in the area, and are also very friendly and enthusiastic to teach. And, finally, you get to experience a great campus that is The University of The Arts in Philly and talk to some of the instructors there, which gets you information and that first step to applying if you want to do drumming or music as a career. All in all, it is a great experience and you will most definitely be grateful for everything that PDP works so hard to make happen."
Lucy Kates: My experience at the Philly Drum Project was awesome! I learned so much during the short time of one day. All of the instructors were very experienced and taught very well. They gave very individualized lessons which was great because of the wide range of experience among the students. I would recommend this program to anyone that wants to improve on their drumming skills.
