Here’s why you should support this campaign:

There are more than 400 kids in Abbotsford who go home every Friday night with no hope of any food or nourishment throughout the weekend. Many of these kids are supported through school breakfast and lunch programs during the week, but their families struggle to feed them during the days off from school.

Kids participating in the Starfish Pack program each week receive a backpack filled with two breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners for the weekend. The items change from week to week, depending on the produce that is in season and the price of the goods.

The Rotary Club of Abbotsford created and assisted with the launch of the Starfish Pack program for the Abbotsford Food Bank to help these kids in need. It costs $525 to provide the food in the backpacks to one child for the entire school year.

Donations of any size can be made to help local families in need. A donation of $52.50 will feed a child for a month. A tax receipt will be provided by The Abbotsford Food Bank.

There are currently 14 Abbotsford schools and 214 children participating in this program, but there is an additional estimated 230 kids going hungry on weekends! Our goal is to expand the program to be able to provide backpacks for all 400 kids through the school year. The Abbotsford Food Bank is in need of donations to help keep this program going, and to enable it to grow.

Help us today to prevent children from going hungry.

Donations large or small make a big difference in a child’s life.

Thank you on behalf of the many children and parents impacted through this program and thank you to Chevron for your support.
