I am a Veteran and I want to help Veterans get partnered with life-changing service dogs. Many who are in need of these special animals are on long wait lists and the cost for training one dog is roughly $30,000. I went into the military shortly after high school, excelled physically and academically and was set to go Airborne when serious medical issues surfaced and I was forced to end my long planned military career. I was stunned at how quickly my plans began to fall apart before my eyes. My platoon and several service members I was stationed with helped me through the uncertainty of the tests and further developing medical issues which eventually led to my leaving the military. A state of depression followed as I had wanted nothing more than to serve my country and had never found anything that felt more like home. It was then that I was partnered with SASSI my service dog from AIM HI (Animals in the Military Helping Individuals). She changed everything for me from the moment she began taking care of me. She will soon retire to a new job of lying down, going for walks, eating treats and alot of napping! I have a great new pup in training to be her successor but it took five long years to get to him. Join us in helping this wonderful organization to continue to provide high quality trained service dogs to Veterans who are waiting for this special partnership to maintain their independence and power through.
