Otherwise known as LTC, the Leadership Training Conference is a three-day, two-night trip at the Desmond Hotel in Albany, NY that invites members from all 256 Key Clubs in New York State to attend workshops about leadership positions and career readiness, run for district positions, attend a keynote presentation, and network with Key Clubbers from around the district to plan fundraising collaborations. However, the Bronx Science Key Club needs funds to help members pay the fees necessary to attend.
The Bronx Science Key Club, a dedicated constituent of the high school student-led international organization Key Club, is a volunteer organization that has accumulated over 8000 volunteer hours and $5000 for numerous charities including Doctors Without Borders, the Arthritis Foundation, and many more since just last April.
In 2024 alone, BSKC received 33 awards, the most in the state . Three of our members served on the District Board this past year, and two have served as district committee member representatives. LTC is a first step and formative experience that is essential to opening our members' eyes to what is possible when many determined, compassionate individuals come together.

LTC can not only reward members for their efforts throughout the year, but offer them an opportunity to cultivate skills necessary for the future. Unfortunately, accounting for the chaperones, travel bus, and entry fees, the cost is expected to be a whopping $600/person. According to the U.S. News, total minority enrollment and percentage of economically disadvantaged students are 79% and 52% respectively at Bronx Science. These students are academically gifted and driven, with Bronx Science ranking in the top 0.002% of high schools according to U.S. News. It would be a profound loss for intelligent, aspiring, and diverse students to miss out on the extraordinary opportunity that is LTC just because of their financial situation.
Our parent organization Riverdale Kiwanis may pay for the bus for us, but many members still cannot afford the attendance fee even then. Several of our members have expressed interest in running for the District board , an incredible opportunity in which they could potentially oversee Key Club functions for all of New York State, but cannot do so if they don’t attend LTC.
Even if we don’t reach our fundraising goal, any amount helps because it's that much less of a financial burden on a member who couldn’t pay otherwise.
