Introduction:

The Unity Dance is a 4 day ceremony of prayer, where the pledged Dancers fast from food and water. It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this campaign today. Chief Chuck D. Hagen, our leader and primary visionary of the Unity Dance, has joined our Ancestors in the Spirit World. Before departing this realm Chief Chuck had asked this growing Unity Dance Community to do whatever necessary to keep moving the energy forward, and so it is.

Our Cause:

The Unity Dance is a new ceremony based on indigenous traditions that have survived by the grace of the Elders who walked this path before us. Seeds of this ceremony were planted when Chief Chuck received dreams from Maestro Francisco Jimenez Tlakaelel for three consecutive nights in the Spring of 2014. Maestro Tlakaelel was a Mexica/Toltec Elder and a Sun Dance Chief. He was a visionary who wanted to bring forth the knowledge of the Mexica People. He generously shared this wisdom with people all over the planet. He believed in equality of all human beings, and in Peace and Dignity for all humanity.

The Unity Dance is a way to share Tlakaelel's vision, and to bring people together. Through the movements of this Dance we learn respect for all things and each other. This Dance ceremony is about equality for all, regardless of color, religion, sex, or other excuse used to separate the human race. Chief Chuck was a student of Tlakaelel, and many would agree that he was an embodiment of this vision.

Chief Chuck, with Jose Reyes by his side, traveled to many communities between the North (United States) and the South (Mexico) participating in ceremonies, and speaking to the people about bringing forth a new ceremony. They combined efforts with Victor Acevedo, another key person who also had visions of a new ceremony, to celebrate unity and equality for all. Together they constructed the movements, symbols, elements, and logistics for this Dance. The Unity Dance is one way of fulfilling a prophecy of uniting the Condor of the South with the Eagle of the North; in order to build a bridge for unity of all peoples and all colors.

This year’s ceremony, the third year of a four year cycle, will be held on the land of The Golden Hill Paugussett Nation. Last year Chief Kicking Bear invited the Unity Dance to reawaken the land of his People with sacred ceremony. We had fulfilled a prophecy foretold by his father, Moon Face Bear, twenty years earlier. He had foreseen his Nation and People to be reunited with sacred ceremony by family from all colors of the rainbow. 17 countries and cultures were represented at last year’s Unity Dance, and this year we are expecting more. About the Campaign:

This crowdfunding campaign will help raise the funds necessary to support the Unity Dance for 2017. We need your help. All the proceeds will go towards the following:

• Tools and materials for preparing the land
• Supplies and materials for rebuilidng ceremonial sites
• Sacred Herbs, Sweat lodge blankets, etc
• Cooking supplies for the kitchen
• Food and Water for the support crew during the Dance, and ceremony feast on the fourth day
• Financial assistance for travel expenses of the International Chiefs and Leaders who attend
• Necessary sanitation (porta-pottys)
