Showboat’s got talent!  Welcome to the Kitsilano Showboat Fundraising Campaign.  We are hoping that you will support us in our continuing quest for discovering local up and coming stars.  Kitsilano Showboat will be hosting 65 performing groups this summer and for many years to come, but we need your help to do this.  The Showboat needs repairs and additional upkeep in order to keep promoting the talent of local, dedicated performers.  Please donate and help the Kitsilano Showboat continue to be a place of wholesome entertainment, good times, and fond memories for years to come!

The Kitsilano Showboat is an outdoor preforming arts theatre located at beautiful Kitsilano Beach Park.  Kitsilano Showboat has been in operation since the 1930’s and was truly a benefit to its performers as it allowed them to practice their trade even though many of them were not able find jobs during the hard times of the Great Depression.  Showboat was founded by Bert Emery in 1935.  In the first season performances included swimming, diving, and acrobatic performances.

Bea Leinbach was instrumental in the running of Kitsilano Showboat for over 65 years.  “Captain Bea” was a firm believer in local entertainment and was a supporter of many community groups over the years.  In addition to being the Showboat’s #1 fan and supporter, Leinbach was one of Meals on Wheels’ founders and volunteered on various committees focused on issues relating to seniors and women.

Kitsilano Showboat is a vibrant part of Vancouver’s performing arts community with performances every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Saturday evening at 7pm.  This year we are celebrating our 80th anniversary and would love to join us as we celebrate our 80th season at Kitsilano Beach Park!
