Parrot Outreach Society is a 501c3, non-profit, parrot rescue. Dusty Hardman, one of our volunteers, is running a 314 mile race, for our "Pennies for Parrots" campaign, to raise money to purchase new cages for our birds. Cages are expensive, and parrots need as large of a cage as possible for good mental and physical health. Remember in the wild they fly sometimes hundreds of miles a day. We average 50-60 birds in our care at all times. The cages at our adoption center are well used and in need of replacement. Please help us provide our birds with the best temporary home possible until they find their new family! The average cost of a Macaw size cage is $500-$600, add to that another $150 in vet care, $75/mth for food and $100/mth for toys and you will see that caring for parrots is an expensive venture.
