Every year, as summer fades into September, political prisoners and their supporters prepare for a day of synchronized resistance: Running Down the Walls. This year’s annual 5K run/walk/jog/roll is more than a fundraiser—it’s a living thread of solidarity, stitching together those inside and outside the prison walls.
Join us on Sunday, September 21st, 2025, at 10am (PST) as we will take to the streets, trails, and yards once again, from Los Angeles to Massachusetts and many roads in between.
This year, LA-ABCF will once again take to Echo Park, tracing the picaresque path around the lake we will collectively push ourselves around the scenic park. With every stride, we carry the words of our imprisoned comrades, echoing in our minds and etched in our hearts, as we run in defiance and solidarity.
For those behind bars, this run is a beacon—proof that their sacrifices are not forgotten. For those of us outside, it’s a pledge: we refuse to let the state sever the bonds of struggle. The funds we raise fuel the ABCF Warchest, a lifeline to PP’s since 1994 that delivers stamps to defy isolation, shoes to walk the yard with dignity, and support for families crushed by incarceration.
Remember who we run for: Black Liberation leaders, Indigenous land
defenders, queer militants, ICE resistors and labor organizers who
stood where we now stand. As anarchist POW Ojore Lutalo taught us,
“Any Movement that does not support its political internees, is a sham
movement.” This September 21st, we will answer that call—not with
words, but with the pounding of feet on pavement and the unshakable
knowledge that solidarity is the force that will bring these walls down.
All funds raised will go to the ABCF Warchest, The Warchest program was created in November of 1994. Its purpose is to send monthly financial support to Political Prisoners and Prisoners of War (PP/POWs) who have been receiving insufficient, little, or no financial support during their imprisonment. Since its inception, the Warchest has raised over $260,000 with all the money going directly to those behind the prison walls.
