Lunita is a handicapped dog rescued from the streets in Argentina and after that rescued from her neglecting adopters in VS. After that she found a loving forever foster home with a very determined and experience mom and she managed to survive all medical issues emanating from the neglect.
However a few months ago Lunita was diagnosed with Laryngeal Paralysis. At that time her mom consulted a specialist vet and he said surgery is possible when Lunita’s condition is good. At the time it was decided not to go ahead with surgery. However the last couple of days she has taken a turn for the worst. Her breathing became very labored and she refused food and water. We thought her death would be imminent, but Lunita is a fighter and she made it clear she did not want it to be her time to go yet. She started eating again and she is getting supplemental oxygen when she is having exasperation episodes from the Laryngeal Paralysis. This makes her feel better and able to sit up for a longer period of time.  
Her mom spoke with the surgeon who saw Lunita several months ago. He told her that he thinks Lunita should go ahead and have the surgery for the Laryngeal Paralysis she has. That because it's been about a year since her last urinary tract infection, and that she's only been on 1 antibiotic for a year now. Chances are her Immune System is a lot better than when she was on all those different antibiotics and other meds. He said there's always a risk with surgery. But having Lunita do the surgery will really increase her quality of life. That dogs start breathing normally immediately after surgery.
We feel that Lunita having the surgery is really the best option at this point. And the surgeon agreed to schedule her in for July 13th!
This leaves us one week to raise the money for the surgery and after care, amounting to a staggering quote of just over 3000 USD. We cannot let her foster mom pay for this all by herself. Yes, we know, it is a huge amount of money but when we posted about her ordeal a lot of people responded and told us that they love her and are inspired by her.
We want to give Lunita the chance to enjoy life and love for much longer because the main part of her life she was not loved. And her sweet face tells us she loves her life as it is now.
