Hello! We are Waltham Forest Pride, a group dedicated to putting on a
big day of partying, politics, protest and publicity for the LGBT+ and
QTPoC communities of Waltham Forest! Following on from the huge
success of the first-ever WFP in 2018, it’s back on Saturday 27 July.
We’ve learnt a lot about how to stage an event like this and make it a
success, which is why we want to grow this year’s Pride – but we can
only do that with your help!
Whilst the Council have been helpful
with permits and waiving fees, we were unable to secure any funding
and, as with last year, are staging this through fundraising and
volunteering. We want to make sure WFP is an event put together by the
local community, for the local community without the interference or
control of corporate sponsorship, as that’s what your feedback last
year told us you prefer. It’s what we believe in too, but we still
need to raise £4,000 to make sure WFP 2019 can take place.
We
have a little money in the coffers from last year and we have some
fundraising events coming up over the next few months. But now it’s
over to you!
While everybody working on producing WFP is donating
their time and labour for free, we have to find the money for
essential things such as security on the day, hire of equipment, a
qualified electrician, promotional materials, production costs etc, so
it soon mounts up. That’s why we’re asking you to help us crowdfund
this year’s event. We’ll be grateful for however much you can donate!
It’s so important that we make this event happen, but we can
only do so with your help.
