UPDATE: Little Jada passed away at the vet's due to some kind of infection that took over her little body. We are devastated by her loss, and have promised her babies Champ and Pebbles that we will rescue them. Please help us pay off her vet bills! More ...

Little Jada was originally saved by a kind woman from a high kill heartsticking shelter in Louisiana for a rescue in the northeast.  A tragic turn of events led to the rescue abandoning Jada with her puller/foster, along with all the dogs she pulled for them - 23 dogs in all.  When that rescue backed out, Jada's foster mommy reached out to us for help place the 23 dogs.

Jada has been a mommy at least twice in her short life (the foster mom also rescued and has two of her puppies from separate litters also - 6 months and 9 months old - which she saved along with Jada after her familiy dumped them all at the shelter to be killed).  When we offered to help with the abandoned dogs, the first thing we did is instruct her foster mommy to have Jada spayed!  She was spayed on Wednesday, 12/10/14 and today, 12/14/14, she turned septic from a botched spay.  She began seizing terribly, and her temperature skyrocketed.  You can see her belly has turned a splotchy purple, all within the last few hours.  Poor Jada was in seizures one after the next for many hours before we could get her some help.  Like most animal crises, it is a weekend, a Sunday night now, and so we instructed Jada's foster mommy to rush her to the closest emergency vet.  She is now at All Creatures Veterinary Hospital in New Iberia Lousiana, in critical care.  Her prognosis is grim at best and she may not survive the night.

In addition to prayers and healing thoughts, we are also asking for some help covering her medical expenses.  We are a very small rescue, but when we commit, we commit 100% and never leave any animal wanting for anything.  When we stepped up to help this woman with the 24 abandoned dogs, we knew we might encounter a few emergencies, but we never expected anything like this!

If you're able to do without your morning Starbucks or your Friday night pizza and send some money for Jada's expenses, we would be most grateful.  Even a dollar will help!

Thank you so much for all your love and support of little Jada.  She has been through so much in her young life!  We do not want her to die as a result of a botched spay surgery!  She wants to live, and while the vet is unsure if she will survive the night, Jada's will to survive will help her pull through.  We will be posting the veterinary invoices as we get them, and as the amount needed to save her life increases with every hour that she is in critical care.
