Erik is a young neutered male German Shepherd that we rescued from Iowa.  He was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter and needed placement right away to save his life. My husband and I drove to Red Oak Iowa and picked him up, as we both adore the German Shepherd breed.

A couple days later he went to the Vet for his neuter and other vetting.  Erik was diagnosed positive with Heartworms. While we were very sad about this, we knew that we were committed to him and we would find a way to save his life.

Right now Erik is in a wonderful foster home and his foster mommy loves him very much, she will most likely be a "foster failure" and Erik will never be homeless and alone again!  We have him scheduled to to see his Vet at VCA 80 Dodge Animal Hospital in the next week  to be re-tested and a plan for treatment decided on.  We won't know the total amount needed for his treatmtent until we do further bloodwork.   If your Christmas wish is to help with the homeless animals, please donate to Happy Paws.  Our last month's vet bill was right about $4000!  With your help we can save more and more animals.

And remember, every little bit counts, and no amount is too small!

Thank You from all of us at Happy Paws and the Plattsmouth Animal Shelter
