Ride To Give hasn't added a story.
What if a simple check up turned into the ultimate nightmare diagnosis? What if that "stomach drop" feeling was there every time you woke up in the morning, and every moment of every day? For Julian's family, this is their reality. Julian is in the fight of his life, and his parents and siblings are his warriors, leaving no stone unturned and having faith that Julian will live, even though they have heard those horrible words coming from their doctor's mouths. Stage IV Neuroblastoma. Untreatable. Terminal.
Now imagine your 7 year old son, who has had 2 remissions and re-occurrences, came to you with his bucket list? I think any of us would move mountains to make everything on that list happen, no matter how unrealistic or far fetched. Many of his bucket list items have been checked off... He has had a ride in a helicopter, met his favorite band Train, saw a live football game, spent a day on-board the USS Harry Truman as an honorary Sea Knight, and daily gets to love his dream cat, a Sphinx named Anukis. Julian's bucket list is now not that long...but number one on that list is something he has dreamed about since he was 4 years old, an "upstairs/downstairs" house...a house with a second floor and an upstairs bedroom for Julian.
The house was started a year ago by the community. Much was donated, and the family feels so blessed. They have worked hard over the past year to get the home finished but Julian’s cancer came back for a third time this September and they had to take a step back to focus on his health. Julian’s parents are eager to have this renovation project completed so they can fully focus on his treatment. After three incomplete online fundraisers, Julian’s parents are feeling the house may never be finished.
Ride to Give wants to help this family finish Julian's dream house. Their current needs are to upgrade the electrical service in the house to cover the load of the addition, finish the new upstairs bathroom, finish the painting the Julian’s room and the other new spaces, and in the spring grade the outside so there is not a mud puddle in their yard every time it rains. They also have flooring for the hallway ready to be installed. There is a short list “punch list” of things to finish then the family will be able to enjoy Julian’s dream come true. Please read more of Julian's story on their website, and on Facebook.
