ZeKenetic Foundation hasn't added a story.
ZeKenetic Foundation’s goal is to maintain a fleet of accessible, adapted rental karts at Atlanta Motorsports Park’s kart track. These karts will be offered to any wheelchair users wishing to try karting or spend fun times racing against their friends.
Supporting ZeKenetic Foundation puts you at the forefront of integrating handicapped people into society. Being able to drive a well-maintained and dedicated go-kart outfitted with safety devices and permanent hand controls gives wheelchair users the confidence to try a new sport that has been mostly inaccessible up to this point. Especially quadriplegics are often excluded because existing hand controls for karts are trigger-type brake and throttle applications designed to be squeezed by the driver, a hand function that quadriplegics no longer have. ZeKenetic Foundation hopes to introduce many disabled motorsport enthusiasts to karting. It is a fun activity and sport that levels the playing field and allows wheelchair users and able-bodied individuals to play alongside one another.
www.ZeKenetic.org ZeKenetic Foundation was recently launched in collaboration with Randy Pobst, racing car driver for K-PAX Racing and Volvo Factory Driver. Its two main goals are to provide track experiences to wheelchair users in safe automobiles with handcontrols in a controlled environment, and to offer handcontrol-equipped rental karts at Atlanta Motorsports Park’s kart track.
The driving force behind ZeKenetic Foundation is Zeke Massie, a retired Marine and disabled veteran who served in the Marine Corps’ Honor Guard. He is a T5 paraplegic well-known for his Volvo-passion and his highly-modified Volvo street and track cars. He developed his affinity for Volvo automobiles after his motorcycle accident in 1994, which left him paralyzed from the chest down. He was searching for the safest vehicle with the most cargo space to hold his daily wheelchair, sportschair and handcycle. When he found his first Volvo sportswagon, a 1996 850R, he fell in love with its handling, power and reliability. Since then, Zeke has owned and modified several Volvos, including a rare yellow 1995 T5R which he used in SCCA autocrossing. Years prior to that he drove his daily driver, a red 1996 Volvo sportswagon in the Panoz Racing School at Road Atlanta. His reputation as a smooth, consistent and capable high-performance driver grew, and so did his expectations of his track vehicles. He has remained faithful to the Volvo brand, and his nearly 17 years of HPDE driving have given him an edge when it comes to creating the ultimate Volvo track car.
His current track car, the only street-legal widebody Volvo S60R, is a powerful and fast machine, gutted to reduce weight, upgraded with an aggressive tune, race seats & harnesses and maintained by a Volvo master-tech mechanic. The car sports a Marine Corps inspired custom flat olive drab paint job and is garaged at Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. Zeke is a member at this state-of-the-art country club racetrack facility and has been tracking his car 2-3 times per week, often offering wheelchair users the passenger seat.
