The Social Justice Defense Council (SJ-DC) is being built as a community-supported civic defense organization for people facing serious legal harm without the resources to meet it.
Our initial $50,000 organizational-capacity campaign is designed to build the legal, professional, and operational foundation needed to handle documented matters responsibly.
WHAT THIS INITIAL CAMPAIGN WILL BUILD
• Retain attorneys and obtain focused legal consultation

Recruit professional staff, investigators, researchers, and qualified
experts
• Establish permanent or transitional office space
•
Build secure document-management, research, and communications
infrastructure
• Pay documented filing, service, transcript,
records, technology, and project expenses
CAMPAIGN FUNDS WILL NOT BE USED FOR THE FOUNDER’S PERSONAL HOUSING, RELOCATION, FOOD, OR ORDINARY LIVING EXPENSES.
OUR FIRST DOCUMENTED PROJECT
SJ-DC’s current public project archive documents the effort required to pursue housing, disability, due-process, and civil-rights matters through the courts. These matters are the organization’s first documented project and public record—not a personal emergency appeal.

A COMMON DEFENSE FUND DESIGNED TO RENEW ITSELF
SJ-DC’s long-term goal is a durable common defense fund. Founder James E. Jacobson Jr. intends to contribute a portion of any recoveries he receives as seed capital.
Future participants who obtain a recovery may be invited, under clear written terms, to return an agreed portion to the fund so it can assist others. The fund may also compensate qualified experts and professionals for work on approved matters.

SJ-DC has applied for federal tax-exempt recognition under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code. The application remains pending, and SJ-DC does not presently represent that contributions are tax-deductible. SJ-DC is not currently providing legal representation.
