The Foxes Boxes: A New Den hasn't added a story.
The Foxes Boxes started as a family-owned restaurant in Wilmington NC that delivered job training through its Externship Academy. Yet over the course of its 5 years in business it grew into so much more. It became a place for the community to gather when they needed support, when they wanted to celebrate, and even when they needed help. During Hurricane Florence The Foxes Boxes became a staging ground for getting supplies and support to those without access in the Wilmington Community, walking with wagon trains almost 4,000 meals to their northside neighbors. They opened their doors countless times to the community without thinking about their own business needs, instead focusing on what was best for the community that they were a part of. While The Foxes Boxes was open, they worked to create The TFB Externship Academy where they created job training programs for individuals with employment obstacles and supported so many enroll in school or start on a career path. So, while they were working to serve delicious food every day, they were also working to help individuals in the community set themselves up for long-term success with service industry skills and experience. And these are just a few examples of why The Foxes Boxes was so much more than just a family-owned restaurant.
However, in 2020 with COVID-19 changing the service industry--and entire world-- The Foxes Boxes had to make the difficult financial decision to shut its doors. It was a painful and heartbreaking decision. It took a long time for my parents, Rachel and Randy, to heal from closing the restaurant they had put so much of the time, resources, and heart into. And they honestly never thought they would be able to think about reopening The Foxes Boxes again.
But now here we are today and people are STILL talking about The Foxes Boxes and how much they miss the restaurant and my parents. It has been 5 years since The Foxes Boxes closed, and we are ready to re-open-- this time as a traveling restaurant (aka food truck)! My mom and dad found the perfect food trailer to make this comeback a reality, but they need some funds and the community to rally behind them to take this leap.
The goal is to raise $45,000 by October 15 to purchase the trailer, so they can be approved and ready to launch a new "traveling den" by the end of 2025. I hope you will join this TFB Fan Club and invite ALL of your friends to bring back this special space.....the world needs it now more than ever!!
