Elevate Her Costa Rica

At New Heights, we're on a mission to empower young women and provide them with the tools to be leaders on and off the basketball court. We've partnered with Rize Girl to create a unique life changing experience: Elevate Her Costa Rica. 

This retreat in Costa Rica will be a life-changing experience! The girls will be spending a week surrounded by a supportive community of other girls their age, learning leadership skills while making a difference through community service and hands-on projects. Beyond just volunteering, the girls will dive into cultural experiences, giving them a deeper understanding of another culture and its values. Yoga, mindfulness, and social-emotional learning activities will help them feel more in tune with theirselves and build confidence. With opportunities for mentorship and self-discovery, they will develop skills that will not only make them a stronger leader but also a more resilient and connected person. It’s the perfect way to grow, learn, and make memories that will last a lifetime.  

This retreat will be led by  New Heights Founder and Director   Kaitlyn Burke  and Rize Girls Founder Jessica Burke . Together they  will be taking 20 young girls and women to Costa Rica to help make a difference in our global community.  

More about the Trip and Impact   

We will be working with Glasswing International, specifically their Girls Club program, where we will work with their students to empower the girls in the community and help to revitalize a local school in an underserved neighbourhood, bring fun physical activities and interact with the young girls at the school in Alajuela, Costa Rica. We will work alongside local community members and students to paint the school, build their garden, provide new learning materials, and help with basic renovations that will transform the school into a better learning environment for the students to learn and grow.  Additionally, we will teach the girls basketball skills and immerse ourselves in the Costa Rican Culture  

In addition to our outreach work, The New Heights and Rize coaches will work with the 20 young girls and women on self - discovery, the transitions from elementary school to high school and high school to university, mentorship, confidence building and self discovery.  We will be providing workshops, yoga, fun physical activity and much more. After working with Glasswing international the girls will get to explore a bit of the beauty that Costa Rica has to offer. We will be visiting a national park, heading to the beautiful waterfalls of Nauyaca and visiting the unique town of Uvita with the ocean at their feet.
