Save-An-Angel hasn't added a story.
Nosey Rosie is a Save-An-Angel foster dog that was rescued from the shelter and placed in a loving foster home. Once she was rehabilitated and ready for adoption, we learned that Rosie had lymphoma; extremely aggressive form of cancer Usually a lymphoma diagnosis is a death sentence for dogs, however Rosie has the rare opportunity to fight cancer and win! She’s a candidate for a canine bone marrow transplant in Bellingham, WA which offers a 50% success rate, vs 0-2% w/chemotherapy alone. This is a potential CURE for her lymphoma!
Rosie will receive a new form of radiation as part of the transplant protocol that is less stressful on the body. When the radiation proves to be effective the results will in turn save thousands of human lives every year! Especially those of young children and the elderly who are often too weak to receive standard radiation. Save-An-Angel was founded for a dog named Angel (see story here) that needed this same procedure. Today Angel is 6 years cured & is about to celebrate her 12th birthday! We are so grateful that two wonderful volunteers have stepped up to drive Rosie to her Cure! They are leaving the crescent city on Tuesday April 5, 2016 and driving 40 hours (2,693 miles) to Washington. The trip should take 3 days total. Once Rosie is safe with Dr. Sullivan, her drivers will fly back to New Orleans. In 4-6 weeks another set of 2 volunteers will fly from NOLA to Washington to pick Rosie up and drive her back home to New Orleans.
We are asking for donations of the following to help pay for Rosie’s trip. The volunteers are amazing and aren’t asking for any compensation for their time. PLEASE GIVE IF YOU CAN! Even $5 makes a difference. : )
HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP SAVE ROSIE’S LIFE WITH THE CLICK OF A BUTTON!
MILAGE & POINTS WANTED – Airline tickets are by far the most costly part of this trip. Save-An-Angel is asking for people to donate their points to help buy Rosie’s volunteers two tickets from New Orleans from Washington State. We also need points to cover two plane tickets TO Washington State for the volunteers who are driving Rosie back to NOLA after her transplant. The total cost for flights are around $400 each = $1600 total. Our hope is to have enough points donated to buy 4 plane tickets.
Monetary Donations – Save-An-Angel is asking for cash donations to cover the cost of the rental car, gas and hotel stays. The volunteers will need 3 nights hotel stays each way = 6 nights total to and from. Motel 6 is dog friendly, so that’s our go to. They are usually around $50-$60 per night depending on the day and location. Here is a breakdown of the estimated cost for Rosie’s trip.
TRANSPORT TO WASHINGTON STATE COST BREAKDOWN
- 2 Airline Tickets: $800
- 3 Nights Hotel: $150
- 4 Day Rental Car: $600
- Gas: $250
TRANSPORT TO NOLA COST BREAKDOWN
