Help Waukegan Animals Getting Saved (WAGS) to reduce the number of homeless, stray, & feral cats in Waukegan by donating to support TNR efforts in Waukegan.
Since WAGS was started in the Summer of 2011, one of its goals has been to assist with helping to reduce the number of homeless, stray, & feral cats in Waukegan. Over the last two years, Spay and Stay was able to work with Waukegan Animal Control and WAGS to secure grants for 2012 and 2013 through PetSmart Charities to provide free spays/neuters to homeless cats in Waukegan at no cost to the citizens of Waukegan. With those grants we were able to get approximately 1,000 homeless cats fixed!!
While we believe this will make a serious dent in humanely addressing the cat overpopulation problem in Waukegan, the efforts are no where near over, and, with spring kitten season already in full bloom, we are already encountering many, many more cats that need to be fixed. Unfortunately, this year we will not be eligible to receive another of the same grant because such resources must be shared with other deserving municipalities. We do not want all of our prior efforts to be in vain. As such, we are in dire need of donations that can be used by WAGS in areas where there is no caretaker or the caretaker cannot afford to pay the fee per cat to get them fixed. In conjunction with Spay and Stay, each cat that comes through the program is spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated against rabies & distemper, dewormed, defleaed, and ear-tipped at a cost of $30 per cat.
Please consider donating to WAGS to help us support this great cause.
You can donate online via the link or send checks or cash payable to
Waukegan Animals Getting Saved (WAGS) to 128 N. West Street, Waukegan,
IL 60085. If you are sending cash or a check, please be sure to
indicate that you are donating towards Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR)
efforts in Waukegan, as the funds we receive for this will be
specifically earmarked for this use.
Also, if you know of anyone that is feeding homeless, stray, or
feral cats in Waukegan who has not gone through the Spay and Stay
Program or if you know an area with a cat problem where the cats have
not already gone through the program please contact Spay and Stay at
(847) 289–4557 or email them at info@spayandstay.org (website is www.spayandstay.org) or contact WAGS directly at
(847) 305-9973. Cats who have already gone through the program will
have a distinctive ear-tip on their left ear.
