This is a very special campaign for two very special Corgis and the people that love them. This is a very non-traditional campaign by CorgiPals standards, and the story is emotional. Here is the story of Lilo and Lou in the words of good samaritan Liza:
"I saw on Facebook that two ten year old Corgis (brother and sister) needed a home for 3 months. I volunteered to take them as I have 2 Corgis of my own. Turned out the owner had a stroke a few years ago, then he broke his back. His wife left him and he fell in to a bad depression. He is now in a homeless shelter attempting to get help and get his life back on track. He is the original owner of these dogs. He had no money to pay for their care and I don’t mind keeping them one bit. They were on very generic store brand food and were very over weight. I have them on much better food that I am paying for and they already look like they have dropped a little weight. Here is my problem: Their teeth are so bad and rotted that when you walk in to a room all you smell is their breath. My husband and I attempted to brush their teeth. The male especially has several rotted teeth in the back. We can’t afford to take them to get those teeth removed. I would love to get them fixed so when the original owner gets his life back on track the dogs with have a new start."
The higher end of the total estimate for Lilo and Lou is $800 ($880 with Fundrazr and PayPal fees included), but the real total will be unknown until the vet can see the extent of the damage to their mouths. CorgiPals does not cover dental cleanings, but we will cover any extractions that Lilo and Lou need. I will post updates as I receive them.
