We would like to tell you a little about Harley and why he needs your help. Harley is a 3 year old male Beagle mix. Harley is an awesome boy!

Harley's story starts out like so many others He was was dumped in a small rural town in Virginia. A nice lady found him and started feeding him but she was unable to keep him. She named him Harley.

The nice lady has a sister who is friends with a foster and volunteer of our rescue. The nice lady drove 3 hours each way to bring Harley to us and ensure he was safe.

Harley is such a sweet little boy - once we got him in rescue it was bath time. We are sure it was the first bath he had ever had. He was a little unsure at first...but realized this wasn't so bad & was just perfect!

Harley made his way to a New England foster home and attended a Super Dog Adoption event where he found his fur-ever home with a lovely retired couple.

Shortly after starting his new life as a beloved pet, Harley developed a limp. Upon a veterinary follow up check, it was dscoverd that Harley has a genetic disorder known as Legg Perthes disease. This is a degeneration of the head on the femur bone, located in the dog's hind leg. Harley was not showing any symptons when in foster care - this went undetected.

The good news is it is fixable - the bads news is it is costly. Harley will undergoe surgery by a veterinary orthopedic to correct this issue and ensure he is able to lead a long, healthy and pain free life.

His adoptive family has asked if we can help with the expense of the surgery and FOHA has agreed to do what we can to help Harley. The surgery is estimated to be $600 and we are asking for your help in getting this funded.

We know and appreciate that the holidays are upon us and money is tight at this time of year. If you have even a $1 to spare, it really helps!

Although you may never meet Harley yourself, he thanks you for reading his story and any help you can give him.

While his story starts out like so many others, we are determined that this one will have a happy ending. Please help give him that.

Thank you!
