Edilson António Santos de Almeida, known widely as the beloved Master Eddy Murphy of Axé Capoeira, received the troubling news last year that he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer.

He is a Father, a Husband, a Grandfather and a cherished Capoeira Teacher to thousands of students all over the world. As a true fighter, he immediately began the hardest fight of his martial arts career. He began a series of costly chemo treatments in Macao, the town where he has been living already for more than 12 years, teaching and spreading his love for Capoeira and transforming the lives of hundreds of people, from kids to adults and whole families, with his enthusiasm and passion for life.

As a non-resident worker in Macao, Eddy has to pay the total cost of the treatments without having any subsidy from the Macao’s health care system. He and his family have been trying to manage this enormous cost since each medication comes from the United States, and some of the exams had to be sent overseas due to the lack of equipment/specialists in the region.

He just finished another 2 months of more aggressive treatments to try to eradicate the cancer, and these  have since resulted in a 90% reduction of the tumor. To achieve a perfect and safer result, he is now preparing to undergo a transplant procedure to help grow back healthy cell tissue to substitute the damaged bone marrow.

While the treatments have been successful so far, unfortunately, they have been very costly and are not covered. From May 2021 until March 2022, they have totaled more than HKD1,160,000. 

His family needs him, his students need him and the world is a better place with him. Eddy has dedicated his life to helping others, and now he needs ours.

“I am a young man of 54 years old, I would love to continue to bring happiness and educate children through my passion that is Capoeira. Capoeira is what kept me going this far, even when I was already diagnosed”, says Master Eddy.

Esta campanha está a ser criada para Edilson Almeida. Todos os fundos angariados vão ser enviados para ele.

Edilson António Santos de Almeida, conhecido como o amado Mestre Eddy Murphy do Axé Capoeira, recebeu no ano passado a preocupante notícia de que estava com um câncer conhecido como mieloma múltiplo, que ataca as células da medula óssea.

Ele é um Pai, um Marido, um Avô e um Professor de Capoeira querido por milhares de alunos no mundo inteiro. Um verdadeiro lutador, ele começou imediatamente a luta mais difícil de sua carreira nas artes marciais e iniciou uma série de tratamentos de quimioterapia em Macau, a cidade onde já mora há mais de 12 anos, ensinando e espalhando o seu amor pela Capoeira, transformando a vida de centenas de pessoas, desde crianças a adultos a famílias inteiras, com o seu entusiasmo e amor pela vida.

Sendo um trabalhador não-residente em Macau, Eddy tem de pagar o custo total do tratamento, sem ter qualquer subsídio por parte do sistema de saúde de Macau. Ele e a sua família têm gerindo este enorme custo, sendo que cada medicamento vem dos EUA e alguns dos exames tiveram de ser enviados para o estrangeiro devido à falta de equipamentos/especialistas na região.

Ele acabou de completar outros 2 meses de tratamentos mais agressivos para tentar erradicar o câncer e estes resultaram em uma redução de 90% do tumor. Para conseguir um resultado melhor e mais seguro, ele agora vai fazer um transplante que fará crescer células saudáveis no corpo para substituir as da medula óssea danificadas.

Embora os tratamentos tenham sido bem-sucedidos até agora, infelizmente eles têm sido muito caros e não são subsidiados e, desde maio de 2021 até março de 2022, totalizaram mais de HKD1,160,000. 

Sua família precisa dele, seus alunos precisam dele e o mundo é um lugar bem melhor com ele. Eddy dedicou sua vida a ajudar os outros e agora ele precisa da nossa ajuda.

“Eu sou um homem jovem de 54 anos e gostaria de poder continuar a trazer felicidade e a educar as crianças através da minha paixão que é a Capoeira. A Capoeira é o que me tem feito aguentar até agora, mesmo quando já tinha sido diagnosticado com a doença”, diz Mestre Eddy.

他是一個父親、丈夫、祖父和一位世上數萬學生欣賞和尊重的Capoeira老師。性格堅强的他立即開始其武術生涯最艱難的決鬥，在澳門開始接受化學治療。Eddy已經在澳門居住了多於12年了，他在澳門熱心地教Capoeira並透過這門武術和他的熱情及對生活的熱愛改變了數百人的生活，從小孩到成人及許多家庭。

作爲澳門外地顧員，Eddy需要承擔所有治療和藥物的費用並沒有任何澳門的醫療津貼。他和他的家人盡量處理這些大量的費用，因爲所有藥物都來自美國，並且由於本地缺乏相關的設備和專家，他們也要將一些檢查發送到國外。

Eddy剛完成了一段更强的療程以完全消滅身體内的骨髓瘤，現在治療進度已達到90%的效果。爲了取得更安全和更有效的結果，Eddy會進行骨髓移植的手術，以健康的細包來治受傷的骨髓。

雖然到現在所有療程都有效，但是它們非常貴，由2021年5月至2022年3月爲止治療費用已達到1,160,000港元，而Eddy沒有任何醫療津貼。

他的家人和學生都需要他，這個世界因爲有他也變得更好。Eddy一世人都一直在幫助別人，現在是我們幫助他的時候了。 

Eddy大師說，“我是一個54嵗的男人，還年輕，我想繼續以Capoeira來教育小朋友和給他們帶來幸福。Capoeira是令我可以堅持到今天的原因，就算我當時被診斷出患有這個病，也是它令我堅持下去的。”
