We are group of climate advocates, studying at the prestigious University of Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria and we are organizing the first Sustainability Week at our university from 19.-22. April. We built up Sustainability Week Calabar because of the need to promote climate action and sustainability by engaging the university community through a week full of events on climate change and sustainability.
Sustainability Week Calabar focuses on the need for students to be resilient and and resourceful in the society in order to facilitate sustainable societal transformation with primary interest on climate action and sustainable development. We raise awareness on climate change, advocacy, youth mobilization and empowerment for climate action and sustainable development. Furthermore, with the current upsurge of climate crisis in the global south, we hope to expand our target audience to other tertiary institutions. Our team works in collaboration with Sustainability Week International, the global network of student-led Sustainability Weeks.
Our Sustainability Week will emphasise the importance of the mentioned topics for the university with the tag "GO CLEAN UNICAL".
The fund raised here will be fully used to cover the expenses of our
event series during the week which includes:
