There is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing an older dog dumped on the streets following the death of their person, yet it happens all the time.  Let to wander these poor doxies dodge traffic and often become sick.  A few lucky ones are found by Animal Control and make their way to us here at DRBC.  This is the story of little Sid.

Sid was found wandering the streets of Manhattan and although he was microchipped, reaching out to his previous owner proved fruitless.  By the time he was brought in he was very ill indeed.  They reached out to us for immediate assistance.  We knew what to do.

Sid struggled to breathe.  He is paper thin and dehydrated.  He initial blood and urine values showed us what Animal Control suspected – one sick pupper.  We rushed him to Emergency. 

Sid has a collapsed lung, a pneumothorax.  He also has renal disease, but that is probably made worse by the dehydration.  Still, he is eating and fighting an we are here to fight right with him.  We hope you are as well. 

So, what is the overall goal?  Helping Sid comes at a price.  ER admission, an Oxygen bed, radiographs and care in the ICU for several days adds up.  Today we are hoping to raise the $4,500 it will take to cover Sid’s expenses.  Come on Gang, no one of you is going to make this happen…it is going to take the village so tell you friends, share the story and let’s raise the funds!
