"Charmed, I'm Sure" is a unique,
immersive convention experience for the world-weary mage. Our
vacation planning team provides entertainment and relaxation
opportunities, set in an historic, modernized wizort (that's
wizard resort, for the uninitiated) in which you can play, dine,
socialize, shop, and experience the best the southern magical
community has to offer. With an enchanting clue-based story,
dancing, music, picnics, fan programming, photo opportunities, and
shopping, we guarantee a wizarding weekend you'll never forget!
Our magical weekend getaway runs from Thursday afternoon, July 30, through Sunday brunch on August 2, 2020, at the charming Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, VA, one of just 18 hotels in the state to achieve the prestigious AAA Four Diamond rating. A weekend-long, immersive, clue-based story you can join as
any magical character from any fandom (including your own unique creation!)
- ️A relaxed pace, with activities designed to feel like vacation, not a traditional convention.
- A Pinball Wizards special after-hours event, exclusively for Charmed attendees: Don your costumes and cosplay as we take over the Roanoke Pinball Museum, which features approximately 60 playable pinball machines from 1932 to present day, and the STARCADE, a 3,000-square-foot space filled with classic and new arcade systems and gaming activities. Best of all, we've cast a spell on all the machines, so no tokens are required!
- ️Fan-based programming to entertain and inspire.
- Chartered shuttle service to the Mill Mountain Star (the world's largest freestanding neon star at 88 feet tall and with more than 2,000 feet of neon tubing) with spectacular vistas of Roanoke. We'll visit this "Hollywood sign of the East Coast" and have opportunities to explore, picnic, and enjoy fan-based programming in a natural setting.

Is there a group rate for the Hotel Roanoke? | Yes! Our team has worked with the hotel to secure a room rate for our group of $179/night (single or double occupancy) and $189/night (triple or quad occupancy). Details about the room block are coming soon, but rest assured there's lots of space for everyone to stay at the hotel. | I am sure I can stay at the local Motel 9 3/4 for cheaper, so do I have to stay in the Hotel Roanoke room block? | Yes, you have to stay at Hotel Roanoke. We have a budding relationship with the hotel and as part of the agreement to secure a good room rate for our event, it's important for all attendees to stay at the Hotel Roanoke. Plus, you're going to want to stay with us at the wizort for the full magical experience. | Can I get that same hotel rate if I come early or stay late? | Absolutely. Feel free to stay as long as you like. When we check in, we don't ever want to leave, either! | I see there are offsite events. What if I don't want to leave the hotel? | We know that many experienced convention attendees will find this element of this event strange, as convention events are all typically held under the same roof. We hope you'll step outside of this expectation with us--by our count, just 200 steps--to join us for unique activities in Roanoke's beautiful Downtown Market area. During the event, a cohesive story will occur, with you
taking center stage in driving the plot. Choose to participate
as much or as little as you'd like- everyone is welcome,
whether playing as a character or as yourself! You can be a
first year wizarding student from a well-known Scottish
magical school, a nanny who can clean house with a snap of her
fingers, a ghost with the most- it's up to you!
| Do I have to participate in the immersive story? | Not at all! It's your vacation- no one is going to tell you how to spend your time. The story and all gameplay is entirely opt-in, and designed so attendees can participate as much or as little as they like. There will be many additional fun activities and fan-based programming to enjoy. This is just one or many magical and unique events at Charmed, I'm Sure.
| What are the rules for the immersive story game? | 1) Be respectful of other Charmed attendees. 2) Respect others' choices to play constantly, play occasionally, or not play at all. 3) Work together to find clues and solve puzzles. 4) If you have any concerns or issues, please see Beth immediately.
| Let's talk cosplay! Do I have to dress up? | Nope. Cosplay is always optional. If you want to cosplay, please feel free to do so. This is a great place to get creative--all magic bearers, wand bearers, and spell casters from your favorite books, movies, and TV shows are welcome. If you've got original characters that fit into a magical sub-world, bring 'em! We want you to feel like this is a great place to trot out your newest cosplays and your tried-and-true ones. Genre and gender bending and blending are welcome! Wear what makes you happy. It's summer, but the hotel and its amenities are indoors and very well air conditioned. If you're excited about our whole slate of events and want to cosplay, you're going to want to bring something that won't melt in the July heat and humidity (for a mere 200 steps outside one day, the Mill Mountain Star trip, and the possibility of hanging outside in wooded shade for a little while). | Are you offering day passes for local attendees? | Day passes may be available at a much later date, but your best deal and most fun will be had attending the entire weekend and buying a full pass. | Is this event accessible? | All portions of the hotel are accessible through one of the elevators or ramps. There are ADA-compliant rooms and amenities at the hotel and in our meeting spaces, and the pool area has a pool lift to make sure you can relax with everyone.
