Moose is a big dog with a giant sized heart. Being the young Rottweiler that he is, Moose dreams of burying bones, chasing a ball, running after squirrels and palling around with kids, while trying to sit in their laps.
Unfortunately, all of these things are not a reality for him. Moose has developed a type of nasal cancer that is painful and makes breathing and eating difficult. Moose doesn't have a voice to tell us but we know he wants to live and have a boy/girl/family for his own.
Moose was picked up as a stray and was scheduled to be euthanized the day we rescued him from a Tennessee shelter. We saw those eyes and knew we had to get him out!
We thought Moose had an upper repiratory infection but after several weeks of 3 different antibiotics that did not help, it appeared to be a chronic condition......or worse. Moose's vet suggested that Moose see a specialist. It was during the endoscopy that it was discovered Moose has a nasal tumor.
The only solution at this point is immediate surgery. And possibly chemo or radiation afterwards. We are taking it one step at a time. At this point we are raising funds for Moose's surgery. The surgery cost is much more than the $1,275 we are raising, but his vet has offered to do the surgery at a much reduced cost. He can see how much life Moose has left in him.
With the surgery and follow up care, Moose would be expected to make a full recovery within 4-7 weeks allowing him to have the happy life he so deserves.
