'Santa, all I want for christmas is my sterotactic radiation therapy, so I can spend more time with my ma and pa!  Thanks Skippy.'

Tamara and Sergio have spent the last ten years donating their time and raising a great deal of money and supplies for a local shelter.  They have always been the ones helping others, never thinking of themselves first.  Now they need our help for a change.

While Sergio was volunteering walking dogs he met Skippy.  Skippy had lived in a cage at that shelter for most of his life.  He came to reside at the shelter through animal control with a chain imbedded in his leg.  The animal control officer noted Skippy was terrified.

Skippy remained terrified, spending most of his time in his cage for the next eight years.  He was afraid of all the shelter people and the other dogs.  He was evaluated at St. Hubert's and their determination was Skippy was afraid of just about everything.

Then Sergio came along.  For the first time in his life Skippy learned to trust someone.  They became fast buddies and Skippy started to experience how happy life could be.  Sergio and Skippy soon could not be apart from each other, even overnight, so home Skippy went.

Since then he and Sergio have become constant companions.  Skippy is Sergio's shadow.  You very rarely see one without the other.  Skippy has blossomed into a new dog, even putting up with the cats in his new home.

Tragically, after finally finding his forever home, Skippy has been diagnosed with a meningioma on the brain stem.  With Stereotactic Radiation, Skippy can possibly have another year or two to enjoy the life he finally found.  However, the cost is exhorbitant in these tough times for everyone.  Tamara and Sergio have already spent over $4000.00 just getting Skippy properly diagnosed and his seizures under control, so their personal savings have been exhausted.

So Mattie's Friends has decided to sponsor a fundraiser for them.   Mattie's Friends is a 501c3 non profit, so donations are tax deductible.  No contribution is too small.  Every dollar raised helps.
