The Joseph Campbell Foundation’s online presence is crucial to the effort to spread Campbell’s mythological perspective around the world. We are therefore thrilled to focus our very first fundraising campaign on an exciting redesign of the JCF website.
JCF was created in 1990 by Campbell’s widow and family, with the mission to “preserve, protect, and perpetuate Joseph Campbell’s pioneering work.”
Since then, JCF has published fifteen hardcover books and multiple eBooks and eSingle articles as part of The Collected Works of Joseph Campbell, re-mastered and released over fifty lecture audio recordings, and produced and released the Mythos video series, as well as The Hero’s Journey: Joseph Campbell on His Life and Times and Sukhavati: a Mythic Journey.
We have worked with a global community of artists, scholars, writers,
educators, and questers about mythology in explorations of what myth
means to them and the world around them. World-wide, we have
co-sponsored conferences and workshops with organizations; supported
extensive and powerful online conversations; and served as the base
for local and regional community conversations and programming on myth.
We have done this as an almost completely volunteer
organization. The work over the last 25 years has been brought to life
by you – our global community of inspiration, of curiosity, and of passion.
At the heart of it all has been the JCF website, serving as gathering place for our community, a place of conversation, of learning, of commerce, and for many people, their entry point not only into the world of Joseph Campbell, but into the world of myth.
After years of creative patches and digital duct tape to keep www.jcf.org functioning, we have reached the point where we need to rebuild its infrastructure from the ground up. We are professionally designing a new site that will do all that www.jcf.org has done so far, and leap far beyond that, using the latest web technologies to make the site more powerful and more accessible to people everywhere.
