CorgiPals, Inc. hasn't added a story.
"My dear boy Seamus had several seizures last night. We took him to the emergency vet and he seems stabilized and will be coming home later today. The bill was quite high and has taken quite a chunk that will be difficult for me to figure out how to pay the rest of the bills for the month. It will also likely be a good idea for us to get Seamus a MRI in the near future. It has been a very straining last 16 hours."
Later in the day, I got an update:
"I brought Seamus home. He is doing better but is still have occasional small seizures which confuse him and scare me. The two vets I spoke to communicated that the most likely scenario is a brain tumor based on his seizure activity and his age. I was told if we can get him stabilized on an anticonvulsant he may still have some quality of life - but the time frame of that life is very unknown. I'm going to take him to see his regular vet tomorrow to see about follow up care.
I have had Seamus for about a year and nine months. I've always admired Corgis, but had a Cairn Terrier mix who provided me with enough shenanigans so I wasn't looking for another dog. My neighbors had Seamus - who was the fattest, stinkiest Corgi I ever met, but also the sweetest. When they lost their house they had left Seamus in the garage alone during a September hot streak. As I was leaving to teach a class they approached me - saying they came back to feed the dog and he had been in the garage for days. I promised to take him - but I told them I was not sure I could keep him but I'd find him a home. Well, the little guy nuzzled his way straight to my heart. With the help of my boyfriend we took care of the stinky issues. He's lost some weight, though he could stand to loose five more pounds easily. We put Seamus on a new med. He's stopped seizing but can't walk or eat without assistance. The vet recommended giving him a few days to see if he rallies."
I was completely heartbroken to receive the final update on Seamus on June 12:
"Today I euthanized Seamus. He was unable to walk and not eating or drinking. It all happened so suddenly, but it was time to let him go. It has been so sudden. I left for work Saturday morning and when I came home I knew something wasn't right. I do feel a lot of comfort knowing I did the right thing by letting him go but I still keep expecting him to come by and nudge me with his nose or to bark at me because I'm late on giving him dinner."
I have set Seamus's fundraising goal to $950 to cover his vet bills, Fundrazr fees, and PayPal fees. Please share this sweet boy's story and help if you can so we can help get his lingering bills paid while he rests pain free at the Rainbow Bridge.
