The Event: Lands of Resistance
As a continuation of the Lands of Resistance event held on June 7 at Off the Beaten Tracks (Lyon), we are launching a fundraising campaign to extend this collective momentum and allow those who couldn’t attend the event to actively support the work led in Lebanon by the Lebanese collective Biodiversity Ya Habibi.
Who are we?
We are a group of around ten engaged activists from diverse
backgrounds and movements, united by the convergence of
struggles.
On June 7, in collaboration with the Lebanese
collective Biodiversity Ya Habibi and several
Lyon-based associations — FLED, Action Justice Climat, Urgence
Palestine Lyon, Collectif 69 Palestine, and Confluences des
Luttes — we organized an event entitled Lands of Resistance,
focused on decolonial environmental issues in Lebanon and Palestine.
Our Mission
Lands of Resistance was a space for collective reflection, storytelling, and understanding of the rural resistance of a rooted people fighting against imperialist and capitalist logics of destruction.
The event aimed to support concrete actions on the ground in Lebanon, through the work of the Lebanese collective — efforts that are more vital now than ever.
Why this fundraiser?
All funds collected will be redistributed through the collective Biodiversity Ya Habibi:
42% will go to Mr. Sleiman and his family, who are currently finalizing the reconstruction of their home in southern Lebanon.
42% will go to the Committee for the Safeguard of the Environment in Bcharré (Lebanon), a volunteer NGO founded in the 1990s. It works on reforestation with cedars and junipers, raises awareness of local ecological issues, and protects landscapes and natural resources under the direction of Dr. Youssef Tawk.
16% will go toward supporting the mission of the Biodiversity Ya Habibi collective, which raises awareness of environmental issues in Lebanon through cinema and art, and continues its solidarity screenings worldwide — collecting funds to support local communities and ecological initiatives.
Let’s act together!
We are calling for your support: every donation, no matter how small,
can make a real difference.
To carry forward the collective
energy sparked by our event — where €1,000 has already been raised —
we are opening this fundraiser to anyone who wishes to support the
Lebanese collective but could not attend.
It is crucial to support such initiatives so they can continue to grow, to think together, and to nurture our shared resistance in the face of the ongoing ecocide and genocide carried out by the Israeli army in Lebanon and Palestine.
🎧 A podcast from the event is currently in production, featuring highlights from the roundtable discussion “From Lebanon to Palestine, Facing Terricide: Ecologies of Resistance”, with contributions from Samah Karaki, Hadi Awada, Rima Kadissi, Tatiana Guille, and Sandra Guimarães.
Thank you for your support and commitment.
