Our province is growing, and our physician population is ageing. While the current state qualifies as a healthcare crisis, it will worsen in the next 5-10 years unless we act today. 

The New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation (NBMEF) is a Registered Charity dedicated to securing physicians across New Brunswick.

Founded in 2010, it has a unique and innovative program; it extends Return-to-Service scholarships to New Brunswick medical students, ensuring a pipeline of future physicians are ready to practice in New Brunswick. It is the first organization of its kind in Canada.

Through this model, everyone benefits: dedicated students, donors and the communities who will benefit from these physicians' care in the decades to come.

In just 14 years, we have helped secure 50+ physicians across New Brunswick, and have over 250 students committed to practicing in the province once qualified.

We have made great progress, but the need still outweighs our ability to give. This year, we awarded over $1.1M in medical education scholarships, but still turned away 25% of eligible applicants due to a lack of funds.
