OUR LEAP: In 2021 on a wing and a prayer, we left north Dallas and moved to 60 acres of raw land in Tyler, Texas . 

WHY WE MOVED: Our goal for buying land in east Texas, besides raising our boys to know how to climb trees, was to create an inviting space for friends, family & guests to come rest, play, hike, and camp on our spectacular property.

GETTING SET UP: It took us about 2 years to build up the infrastructure (road, water, septic, power), a shop & our home, doing a majority of work ourselves. If your interested, you can check out that journey here. 

STARTING A BUSINESS - PHASE 1:  Heavenly Haven & Hideaways was born. To date, we've added 3 RV and 4 tent camping spots that are available for rent through our website. We've already started having guests come stay and we're getting very positive feedback and reviews. 

PHASE 2: With the RV and tent camping spots finished, we started building 2 cabins: an A-frame and a 2-story.

WHERE WE ARE NOW: We've got both cabins dried-in (enclosed so they're safe from the elements), foam insulated, and the 2-story cabin has sheet rock and some lights installed. We have the A/C & heat units and they'll be installed next. But...

THE PROBLEM: Despite frugal stewardship, things have been so expensive along the way & prices have been exorbitantly higher than we ever anticipated when we started this adventure, so now we don't have the resources to finish. We've run out of $$ money $$. 😞

WHAT IS NEEDED: We still have many things to finish, including (prices approximate & conservative to demonstrate the need):

• Tape/bed/texture walls - $1,500
• Kitchen cabinets & countertop - $1,000
• Kitchen hardware & shelving - $250
• Bathroom sink, toilet & fixtures - $1,000
• Flooring & installation (approx 775 sqft) - $3,000
• Painting - $1,500
• Appliances (toaster, micro, fridge) - $1,000
• Furniture (bed, couch - we already have many other items donated from family) - $500
• Bookshelves (the 2-story cabin's theme is a library - having lots of cozy nooks and comfy spaces to read) - $300
• Loft net - $600
