Wonderful news! Three of the Ukrainian scholarship students are on their way to Brookes Westshore School!
As you know, we have been working hard over the past months to finalise the paperwork for our Ukrainian scholarship students. We are delighted to let you know that three students – Ivan, Vlada, and Bohdan – have completed all the necessary checks and are right now on their way to Canada!
We know you will join us in welcoming them to our school community and helping to ensure that their time with us is a great success.
Our heartfelt thanks to those of you who donated so generously to our Scholarship Fund – you have made it possible for us to support the students for the whole of their journey across Ukraine, over the border into Poland, by train to Warsaw and then their flights to Canada, via Frankfurt. We couldn’t have done it without your support and generosity. Thank you!
This first group will arrive on the island on Wednesday, October 25th and will be in classes on Thursday (unless they need to sleep!) Ivan, Bohdan and Vlada have been accompanied on their journey by Iryna (Ivan's mother) who will be staying with us for a little while to help settle the students into school life and to be a point of contact for the students who are still waiting in Ukraine for their visas to be completed.
We are so excited to welcome Ivan, Bohdan and Vlada after such a long process. Our staff and faculty are fully prepared to create the best environment for them to adjust and thrive at Brookes Westshore.
We need your help. We still have five students waiting in Ukraine for their paperwork to be completed - and they will need to travel out of Ukraine and across Poland before flying to Canada. We want them to be able to take part fully in the life of our school - whether it is wearing full uniform, working on a laptop, going on school trips with their new friends, or calling home using a Canadian network. We need your help to ensure they thrive in our community!

100% of your donation will go to the students from Ukraine and every donation will make a difference.
