Fabrica is a contemporary art gallery and arts charity based in the former Holy Trinity Church, at the heart of Brighton's South Lanes.
We believe art has
the capacity to create
life changing experiences.
Each year we present 3 contemporary art exhibitions.
We show work which helps us make sense of our lives and
experiences and introduce it to a large and diverse audience
- because we think everyone should have the opportunity to
connect with art, and the big life questions it asks of us all.
The work we commission for our exhibitions is often immersive, shaped
around our Grade II listed building. Sometimes it takes place
outdoors, in public spaces around the city.
We give artists the financial and creative
support to make extraordinary new work - because
we think artists need organisations like ours to believe in them and
support them to be ambitious with their practice.
We are one of a few organisations in the South East to
do this.
Alongside our exhibitions, we run projects
inviting our communities to explore art and their own creativity:
they visit exhibitions, make art or simply make friends.
We want art to be a part of everyone's everyday experience - in
particular those who find it harder to participate because of who they
are, where they live or what they are going through.
In the past 25 years we have:
- given 45 artists the financial and creative support to make extraordinary art which is free for everyone to enjoy
- provided opportunities to participate in the arts to 35,000 people
who might not have thought that art was for them
- welcomed over 950,000 visitors to connect with exciting, challenging, inspiring art, and the big life questions it asks of us all.
In the coming years, we want to be even more ambitious with our work.
