In early March, animal control officers in Orange County, Ca., seized dozens of chickens from an animal cruelty situation. As is often the case, all the hens were adopted but no one would take the roosters. 

The poor guys were set to be euthanized in just 24 hours when local volunteers stepped in to find homes for them. In just one day, they were able to find homes for over half of the 33 roosters, with some of the birds going to the glorious Rooster Sanctuary in Colorado! 

Here's the catch: the remaining roosters will be euthanized if they stay at animal control. Hen Harbor can foster the birds while we look for their forever homes, but they can only take as many roosters as there are kennels for.

Each kennel will cost around $40 to build with all-volunteer labor. That means every $40 saves one life!  Not only do we need to build the kennels for their stay, but we then need to rent a van to transport all these beautiful, proud birds to their forever homes.  

(After they are rehomed, we will be able to use these kennels to continually house roosters who would otherwise be killed at the shelter for lack of space!) 

If each member of the animal-loving community gives just a few dollars, we will be able to save all 33 precious, feathery lives from certain death... and even more birds on a continual basis.
