Intestinal worms are a common occurance with shelter dogs. One of the most important precautions shelters can take is to worm all dogs on arrival and regularly thereafter if dogs are not adopted. Intestinal worms can cause weight loss, lethargy and other complications. Currently, the wormer that BARK uses is a very time consuming process (must be done 3 days in a row) and does not cover whip worms (incredibly common in shelter dogs). In order to get a better quality, more efficient means to deworm all of the dogs, we've decided to start a fundraiser! By doing a fundraiser, we ensure that we're not adding to our regular costs since the adoption fee barely covers the initial vetting cost for a healthy dog. We've found the pills we need at a cost of $145 for 100 pills (each of which will deworm a 22 pound dog). We'll need approximately 2 bottles to treat all of our current dogs at the same time. After that point, one bottle lasts about a month (or slightly more depending on how many new dogs we get). If you'd like to donate and help keep our dogs as healthy as possible (and therefore reduce the initial costs for new adopters), please do so today!
