The Original Westies Rescued UK (WRUK) hasn't added a story.
My name is Isobel Smith and I am the Secretary of The Original Westies Rescued UK® (WRUK). One of the lovely members of our rescue, Nikki Collins, has very bravely agreed to a head-shave to raise funds and awareness of our rescue. This event will take place at 67 Brue Close, Weston super Mare, BS23 3BX on Easter Saturday 20 April 2019 and will be live on both Nikki's FB page and also the Rescue's FB page. The fun starts at midday and Nikki's head-shave will be at 3pm, with the event ending at 5pm.

Nikki has a personal reason for this, her mum Ann has adopted two ex-breeding Westies, Daisy and Toby, both of whom have a myriad of health conditions.
The Rescue is a small, not-for-profit organisation and all money raised goes towards the dogs in our care. We have a lot of lifetime foster dogs who, for health reasons, would be overlooked for adoption. This fundraiser is to provide essential veterinary treatment for these dogs.
We also rescue dogs from abusive and dangerous situations, both at home and abroad, and never turn away a dog in need. We don't just rescue Westies, although they are our prime concern, we also rescue other dogs that need our help.
The little Westie in the photo is Daisy. She is an ex-breeding girl who came to us in a bad way. We were not told that she had an ablation of the eardrum operation before she came to us. It became evident almost immediately that poor Daisy was in pain with her ears. She had a deep-set untreated infection. Her mum, Ann, was advised by her vet to have an op to repair the botched ablation op that Daisy had previously. This op would only tackle one ear at a time. Daisy has had her first op and her right ear is improving but unfortunately she has lost the ability to blink with her right eye. We are hoping this blink will come back soon and will have to monitor the situation.
The operation for Daisy cost £3000 and that was for one eardrum. We will have the other eardrum operated on in a few weeks and that will be another £3000.
In addition to Daisy, there are other poorly dogs requiring operations and ongoing medication. One is Nessie who has just had a leg amputated due to an untreated injury received in a Romanian shelter when she was a tiny puppy. Her treatment has cost the Rescue almost £5000. Daisy and Nessie are just two of the dogs in our care who have had treatment recently. There are more waiting for their treatment.
In order for the Rescue to provide treatment for their needy dogs we need to fundraise. All the money raised by Nikki's brave act will benefit all the dogs in our care presently and also those we still have to save.
Please can you help us to help these poor dogs? Please sponsor Nikki or make a donation to our Rescue. We are hoping to raise £3000 for Daisy's next eardrum op.
On behalf of the Rescue, and the dogs who will benefit from this event, I thank you for reading this.
