As tourism rapidly takes over traditional industries in the village, the next generation will need skills to work in the tourism industry, and to particpate in the global online community.
In order to help break the cycle of poverty that many Gerupuk families are caught in, Pelita Foundation provides after-school English, Digital Literacy and Life Skills classes. We also run a school scholarship program which provides financial and practical support for children to complete their formal education.
Our classes are currently held in a borrowed classroom, and it's time for us to move out!!!! In order to expand and develop our programs, WE NEED SPACE!! Please help us to improve Gerupuk children's future by donating to the construction of our new school building.
Our target amount also includes one year’s salary for our local English teacherand one year’s salary for our Community Relations Officer.
The building will include two classrooms, a 'technology hub' for charging devices, a library/audio visual room, much-needed office and storage space, and a small bathroom.
