Two bull terriers, Maddie and Cliff, have been left at an abandoned home on a lake in Alabama. Neighbors have been feeding and watering them and sometimes the owner comes by to check on them. The owner has had the worse luck, divorce, foreclosure, lost his business, and homeless with no where to keep his dogs. Someone finally contacted RCBTR when the male, Cliff, was found drowning in the lake. Thank goodness the neighbor jumped in to save him, you see Cliff is blind and had gotten off the deck and wandered by the edge of the lake and fell in. Maddie, the female, was barking by the edge of the lake which alerted the neighbors. We spoke to the owner of the dogs and he has surrendered the dogs over to us thankful that we will look after his dogs. These poor dogs are in bad condition as they have been living outside on a deck in the elements with nothing but food and water. They are infested with fleas and parasites. Maddie is a standard at 55 lbs and 4 years old and Cliff is a mini at 30 lbs and 7 years old.
These dogs need a lot of care and vetting, here is what this fundraiser will cover:
- They were seen by Alabama vet for vaccines and a quick check up
- Boarding at the Alamaba vet until transport
- Transport from Alamaba to Columbia, SC
- Cliff is blind in both eyes, but one needs to be removed
- Spay and neuter for both dogs
- Medications for skin, ear, and eye infections
- Supplements and good food to get them back into good condition
