Yesterday we raised funds for NRSD School in Bangalore to renovate flooring in toilets that are in dire need to renovation. If we raise another Rs 70,000, we can help them repair the plumbing too!
The National Residential School for the Deaf (NRSD) was founded in 1979 with an objective to provide a teaching cum residential facility for the hearing impaired. There are close to 200 children of various ages at the school. The school has received awards from the government for the care it provides the hearing impaired. Mr Patil, the man behind the institution takes special care to get gainful employment to the children when they reach an employable age. While the overall infrastructure is good, the toilets were last renovated 10 years ago and are in a state of dis-repair. It is proposed to replace the commodes, raise the flooring by one inch of cement-concrete mix and put tiles on the floor and on the walls up to a height of 7 feet. The total cost will be Rs 2,50,000 and Mr Patil will repay the loan in three years
